Been quiet, any thoughts on the upcoming season. Maybe biggest changes are the sweet 16 for class 'B' which should help Warner/Northwestern reach the state tournament in class 'B'.

Also Parker goes to class 'A' this season. I'll take a stab at pre season ranks, haven't followed 'A' nearly as much as 'B' the past few seasons

Preseason:
Class A
Dakota Valley
SFC
Madison
Parker
?

Class B
Northwestern
Warner
Chester
?

Does Dakota Valley have a new coach this year? Thought I remember hearing that they were advertising for a new coach last spring. If so, what impact does that have on DV?

Yes according to the SDHSAA website they have a new coach. Do they return most of their starters?

What about AA? Harrisburg have a chance at repeating?

Not nearly as familiar with 'AA', but I have heard that Harrisburg will be very solid once again, although the loss of Slaughter will be tough. I would imagine the usual suspects will once again be at the top

A couple other teams that came to mind on the 'A' side are SV & MCM- not sure what West Central, BH, or Custer lost from last year but could all be teams to watch...Big East Conference will have some fun match-ups to keep an eye on.

I think Florence/Henry is going to be a top five team this year in B. May not get to state with Northwestern and Warner but they should be able to compete this year.

Mitchell in AA should be much more competitive this year also. A team that's been real young but now are upperclassmen and have solid varsity experience.

Don't know much about F/H, but as history has shown not many can compete with Warner/NW in either A or B. Chester is always solid along with Arlington after that it falls off pretty quick.

Mitchell is 8-0 and has won 19 sets in a row. Are they the real deal?

It is worth noting that Mitchell is ranked number 1 in the coaches poll.

What happened? Parker could never beat NW when Parker was a B school. Now, they move up and finally find a way? Did NW play bad or have injuries? Or did Parker just play their best game?

NW just destroyed the #3 team in class A, Miller the other night.

What happed at the Cavalier Clash?

Must of gotten tired of you saying they couldn't win big games? ;) Parker played pretty outstanding. They lost several seniors from last year and have a talented group of underclassmen that have been changing rotations every match this year. They finally found a pretty good groove/rotation at the Clash and stuck with it and played probably their best game of the season. I haven't seen Northwestern this year, but Parker pretty much outplayed them at the net. It was a good match with two good programs/coaches. Not sure there was any one thing that went right for either team - the Parker attack just kept coming and seemed to throw them off a bit....when they got behind they hit several shots out of bounds giving up un earned points. Will be an interesting week for Parker with Chester tomorrow and Madison Saturday. Should Parker play like that they will give about anyone a game.

Here is an article from Yankton paper on the match: http://www.yankton.net/sports/article_a ... b9a64.html

Well...........until they do something at the state tournament, I will stick to my guns saying that they can't win big games :). It's a nice win, but it's still the regular season. NW gets every team's best shot every time. Parker played better and got the win. Great job! When it comes to crunch time and you need a win in the tourney, I will take Warner or NW over every team every time.

It's usually unexpected losses like this that gets the attention of Warner or NW. Then, they become like the Patriots of the NFL and start steam rolling people. NW won't lose to very many A schools this year, so great win for Parker. Enjoy it!

It was a good match-im sure both NW and Parker will only get better because of it. I agree that NW and Warner are the top dogs in 'B' along with Dak Valley and SFC in the 'A'...The sweet 16 will make it more interesting, could set up a Warner/NW championship game. Good matches at Pentagon tourney this weekend
