Derek Peters wins the Roy Griak invite and no one is on this board to tout it? The Class A WC product has been the state's best XC runner for the last two years, and is the 9th rated HS prospect (2018) in the US. He is easily the best athlete in any sport coming out of SD high schools this year. Just had to give him props. Atta boy Derek! Way to represent!

Agree. It'll be fun seeing him at State. Didn't get a chance to see him run at all this year.

I think the most he was ever tested this year was in two different races by a runner from George, Iowa. He seems to be in a class of his own among South Dakota runners.

Weren't there some Peters that went to SF Lincoln? Is he related to them? I watch distance races, but I don't know enough to keep it all straight.

Your opponent probably understands you and how hard you have worked better than anyone. Your opponent is not your enemy that needs to be hated or humiliated. Celebrate with your teammates, not against your opponents. A worthy opponent is necessary for us to be tested and to reach our best. Without an opponent, there is no competition.

Yes, Gabe Peters went to Lincoln and is now running at SDSU. There's no relation as far as I know

Congrats to Derek, and the WC boys state champs. Well deserved.

Derek gets gold medal--for the top time of the day. In fact, the top 4 class A boys and the top class B boy beat all of the AA field to the finish. Well done.

Not exactly a XC powerhouse, but a good school. Congrats Derek.

Wisconsin is a top 10 XC program. Powerhouse. They have won 16 of the last 18 Big Ten XC titles. 5 national titles. They will compete for the national title next year when the championships are hosted in Madison. They red-shirted a key runner (Track World Championship competitor) this year to have him available for next season.

My goodness. That is the most short-sighted post I have ever seen. Do some research. Wisconsin is a highly regarded cross country program. They are in the same conversation as Oregon, Colorado and Stanford. Duke is a perennial top-5 basketball program but they don't always make it past the first weekend of the NCAA's.
