Most anticipated events at 2018 State Meet

Postby Waterboy » March 21st, 2018, 11:24 pm

With the start of track and field season, what are the most anticipated events at State Meet this year.
Mine are:
Girls Class A 800m run. Can Tori Glazier of Custer win her 6th State 800 championship? Haleigh Timmer of STM gave Glazier a challenge at last years Meet. Has any athlete ever won the same event 6 times?

Boys Class B 1600m run. Can Daniel Burkhalter of Bison break Harley Hanson’s 30 year old State Meet record. Burkhalter missed the record last year by 1.11 seconds.

What other events do readers have their eyes on?

The only one that comes to mind for me for winning the same event 6 times is Carly Carper of ORR. She won the Class B 100m dash from 7th grade all the way through her senior year. Macy Heinz of Ipswich had a chance to do it last year but ended the season injured. She had won 5 titles in the 1600m, 5 titles in the 800m, and 4 titles in the 400m (placing 2nd as a 7th grader).

Will Elizabeth Schaffer take her 110m hurdle back from the RCC girl that beat her last year?
Your opponent probably understands you and how hard you have worked better than anyone. Your opponent is not your enemy that needs to be hated or humiliated. Celebrate with your teammates, not against your opponents. A worthy opponent is necessary for us to be tested and to reach our best. Without an opponent, there is no competition.
