Yes, Washington is putting out some good football players, but I think it is the over all quality of football and athletes in Sioux Falls right now. Don't forget Preston Evans from Roosevelt went to NDSU as well as Mike Hardy from O'Gorman is there too. Andy Smith from Roosevelt is also signed to go to NDSU. Nate is an outstanding athlete who was always able to participate with kids a year older than he was. Hope he is able to keep his head on straight because if he does the sky is the limit for him.

I agree with clyde about the overall quality of athletes from SF right now.

Here is a list of the ones I can think of who are playing or will be at what we would consider "big time" schools.

Washington:

Tom Farniok---football---Iowa State
Derek Farniok---football---Oklahoma
Jack Gordon---swimming---Iowa
Aaron LaBrie---baseball---Wichita State
Kari Heck---track and field---Nebraska

Lincoln:

Ryan Hander---baseball---Nebraska
Nevada Sorenson---track and field---Notre Dame
Erin Radke---volleyball---Iowa
Ethan Landon---baseball---Kansas State

Roosevelt:

Cody Larson---basketball---Florida
Bill Kogel---cross country and track---Oklahoma

I feel like I am forgetting some.

That list doesn't even include all the kids at USD, SDSU, NDSU, UNI, Montana or other DI schools.

Connor Schaefbauer to the U of M for baseball...although you could argue that U of M isn't a big time school...at least for baseball.

Yeah, if I went back in recent years, there would be many more and depending on how far back you want to go, no doubt.

Crap LP-I like your list, but just thought of another one. Karlie Mueller from SF Roosevelt has signed to play soccer at Texas A&M.

I have heard of her. I have a friend who has a daughter who plays at Lincoln. Kept telling me how good she was this past season.

No sweat. If you think of anymore, keep them coming.

I appreciate it.

And you will most likely add Nate Gerry and Jon Hander to this list soon.

Looking at the list, I think only 1 is a senior which would be Bill Kogel.

I got Kiah Schaefbauer from the Argus today who said she plays softball at Notre Dame, but have looked on the Notre Dame website and she is not on the roster.

Can someone tell me if she USED to play there or if she still is....what exactly is her status on the roster? Thank you.

Another one I just thought of is Trevor Cook of Washington who this past fall finished his senior football season as the Miami of Ohio kicker.

I always thought it would be nice if the Argus did a periodic update on kids that go away to D1 colleges - i would love to see periodic stats and team updates. Unfortunately, you tend to forget about the kids and there are a lot out there as is evident in your list. Thanks for list by the way......
