State Boys Tourney next week? Will it happen?

No school and no formal practice. If this no school goes on for more than a week, then no more basketball this season.

And then there were 50. The last state to cancel their state basketball tournaments was Missouri. Too bad for all the seniors nation wide who will not get a proper ending to their senior season in basketball. This sucks, but needed to be done.

Would it be ok to say I think they should cancel the tourney now and let everyone focus on other things? I am all for it happening, but I think at this point its just not feasible and holding onto false hope for the teams that did make it.

Big meeting today for the state tourneys with the SDHSAA board. Live at 11 am CST. Argus Leader and Brian Henchen is covering online. What do you think will happen? Can they really delay this to June or July? I just don't see that working.

That is what they are saying. Lots of Ifs along with it though.

If the State BB tourneys happen it will be during June 15-20th. Sorry just don't see that happening.

I don’t see the basketball tournament happening this year either. South Dakota number of Covid-19 are relatively low, a reflection of a mostly rural state with small population. Why risk bringing even 50-100 people together in the same venue and the players being in close contact with each other just to play a basketball game. Not saying we should follow any other state’s lead but I have not heard of any other state resuming sports activities.

i agree with JDJ on why they would try to hold the spring sports or finish basketball. i also doubt that high school or college football will start the first week of August.
that is only 4 month from now. dont see this virus thing over and out of the state by then
